After the creation of the Techiman Diocese, the first Bishop (Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko) of Techiman took keen interest in the establishment of the College. With the development of the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman to a Post Graduate Training Institute coupled with inadequate Nurses, particularly Midwives in the Diocesan Health institutions, the need for easier and more extensive access to human resources in the Nursing field was felt as very necessary to establish the school.
Since Techiman became a separate Diocese, the new Diocesan Administrator of Techiman evaluated the need and subscribed to the initiative as very appropriate for the Diocesan Health Service. After a thorough inspection and assessment in Techiman, enough land was identified and made available for the building of the Nursing School at the compound of the Holy Family Hospital.
The Traditional council of chiefs and the Techiman community as well as the Techiman Municipal Assembly were very much in favour of the project and decided to support the course of establishing the school.
As a result of the Bishop’s interest in the project, there were several on-going discussions with stakeholders for the realization of the dream. In February, 2010 the Techiman Municipal Assembly provided funds for the construction of a three-unit classroom block.
